JAKARTA – Special Staff to the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Abdullah Rasyid, expressed positive views on the inauguration of Hendarsam Marantoko as the new Director General of Immigration. According to him, the arrival of new leadership within the Directorate General of Immigration marks an important momentum to accelerate bureaucratic reform and improve the quality of public services.
Abdullah Rasyid stated that current immigration challenges are increasingly complex, ranging from passport services, foreigner supervision, visa management, to the strengthening of digital systems. Therefore, he is optimistic that the new Director General of Immigration will bring renewed energy in strengthening institutional performance.
“The inauguration of the new Director General of Immigration certainly brings high expectations. We are optimistic that under the leadership of Mr. Hendarsam Marantoko, the Directorate General of Immigration will become more professional, responsive, and adaptive to public needs,” Rasyid said on Wednesday (April 1).
He added that the public today demands immigration services that are fast, simple, transparent, and technology-based. Therefore, digital transformation and bureaucratic simplification must remain top priorities within the Directorate General of Immigration.
Abdullah Rasyid also emphasized that the Directorate General of Immigration plays a strategic role, not only in immigration administration services but also in safeguarding national sovereignty, monitoring the flow of foreigners, and supporting national investment and tourism.
“Immigration is the face of the state at Indonesia’s entry and exit points. Therefore, institutional strengthening and service quality must continue to be improved so that the public can directly feel the benefits,” he said.
He further noted that the new leadership in the Directorate General of Immigration must be accompanied by strengthened supervision, particularly regarding the movement of foreigners, residence permits, and potential immigration violations. At the same time, public services must become faster and more efficient to meet evolving societal demands.
Abdullah Rasyid hopes that the inauguration of the new Director General of Immigration will mark the beginning of various service innovations, while also strengthening public trust in the immigration institution under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
