Jumhur Hidayat, Chairman of the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPSI), proposed measures to revive the national industry, which is currently facing difficult conditions. He emphasized that goods which can be produced domestically should not be replaced by imports, or if imports are necessary, they should be subject to high tariffs. He delivered these remarks at the National Industry Seminar “Indonesia’s Manufacturing Industry Today: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities Based on the PMI Index” held on Friday, October 3. He also highlighted domestic purchasing power, urging the public to encourage the government to strengthen it, as it serves as an “engine of growth” across all sectors, including industry.
